What makes renu® sustainable

1. Bio-based Film

Made from sustainably sourced, carbon negative, sugar cane.

2. 100% Recycled Filling

To make the bouncy bit in the middle, we steam clean, then bind together, the foam reclaimed from recycled soft furnishings.

3. 100% Recycled Paper Backing

Our backing is unbleached, printed with water-based inks, and made from 100% recycled paper. Preventing damage to forests and the environment.

Long lasting

renu® is made from high-density foam which means it will protect the pile of your carpet from premature wear. This means your carpet will last longer.

Energy efficient

renu® has a high tog rating, which means that it is a great insulator which will help keep your house warm, save energy and keep noise down.

Comfort

Made from High Density foam and with thickness of 9mm, renu® is suitable for all areas of the home, providing new levels of comfort.

Made from sustainably sourced sugar cane, bio-based film is used for our packaging and on the underlay itself. The sugar cane actively captures CO2 from the atmosphere, while at the same time releasing oxygen – making this material not just green, but proactively green.

Say No to waste

The really cool bit is, when your underlay has reached the ‘end of its life’ it can be returned to us and we will use it to create new rolls of renu®!

No long journeys: reduced carbon emissions

Because renu® is made in the UK it greatly reduces the carbon output created by international shipping.

Recognised by Carpet Recycling UK

A not-for-profit association working to reduce the amount of carpet waste being sent to landfill.

This is How our sustainability journey began

We have used post consumer waste, car tyres and plastic bottles in the manufacture of our underlay for many years. We felt we could go even further and set out with an intention to aim for 100% recycling in the manufacture and after life of a range of high quality underlay. Striving for this full circle of ‘no waste’ has resulted in the launch of renu®, the most sustainable and ethically produced underlay we’ve ever made.
We wanted to find out what you think about a recycled and recyclable underlay so we carried out a research survey among a group of UK homeowners to discover more. We were pleased to find that there is a desire for products that treat our planet with kindness and a genuine effort among our responders to do their bit in ensuring they make responsible purchasing choices.

You told us...

88%

Would choose a carpet underlay that is recycled/recyclable over one that is not.

91%

Of respondents consider if a product can be recycled to be important.

86%

Of respondents worry about the amount of waste going to landfill.

99%

Of respondents recycle some if not all of their household waste.

‘Can be recycled at end of life’ is ranked most important when choosing any product for the home.
