An EPD is the environmental equivalent of a technical datasheet. EPD present comprehensive information about the environmental impacts, waste, energy use, water use and other resource use associated with a product (or service), in standardised form. These environmental impacts are calculated by carrying out a life cycle assessment (LCA).
An EPD is a statement of environmental information not of environmental superiority; EPDs do not weigh, rate or benchmark products in any way. However, the LCA is a thorough assessment of the product’s environmental performance.
